SMART is celebrating 20 years of making readers!

For two decades, thousands of individuals, businesses and community partners have joined SMART in the effort to inspire a love of reading in Oregon’s children, providing valuable one-on-one reading support, adult mentorship and books for those who need it most.

We have many exciting activities and events planned across the state as we commemorate this important milestone and celebrate the people who have played starring roles in SMART’s story.

Do you have a SMART story? Visit www.celebrateSMART.org to learn more, or to share your SMART story. We want to hear from you!

The SMART reading program helps kids become confident readers by providing individual volunteer attention and new, take-home books. Each year we recruit, train and manage up to 10,000 volunteers throughout Oregon. Read about the effect SMART has on children, volunteers and supporters, or go directly to our volunteer page to fill the need in your neighborhood. Get involved in upcoming events or donate now online.
