SMART is funded almost entirely by private donations from foundations, businesses and individuals. This means each and every donation ensures our work goes further—providing vital reading support to more than 10,000 Oregon children every year.
There are four easy ways to donate:
- Donate now, online . A donation of $35 provides 14 new books for one child to take home and keep—for many, these will be the only books they own. A donation of $300 provides full literacy support for one child throughout the school year.
- Join our Monthly Giving Club. Provide consistent support in your community. No checks to write, no payments to remember. By making an ongoing monthly gift through automatic bank transfers or automatic credit or debit card charges, your donation each month will be transferred. You’ll receive a single gift acknowledgement in January that reflects all giving in the prior calendar year to use for tax purposes. You can increase, decrease or cancel your monthly charge at any time. A monthly gift of $25 provides the books and support for one child for a full program year!

Your donation stays local! Donations stay in the donor’s county unless otherwise specified. If a donor lives outside of the state or in a county without SMART programs, donations are applied to the area of greatest need. SMART’s Federal Tax ID number is 93-1051724.
