Business Partners
In 1991, business leaders across Oregon served as the catalyst to get SMART off the ground, creating a program to strengthen Oregon’s future work force. Today, businesses are evermore vital to SMART’s success, and we are grateful for the support of hundreds of SMART Business Partners across the state. Their support – in the form of financial contributions and employee volunteerism – has allowed us to serve more than 152,000 children and give away nearly 2 million books.
Featured Partner: Intel

Since 1993, Intel has been a diligent supporter of SMART. Over the years, Intel has provided more than $97,000 in grants to SMART, and given an additional $10,700 in grants matched for volunteer hours completed by employees. During the 2011-12 program year, 21 Intel employees were SMART readers. Additionally, since 2008 Intel has led the Bridgetown Book Drive, which has resulted in more than 27,000 books for SMART programs in the Portland Metro area. The Intel partnership has been invaluable and has allowed SMART to make major strides.
