Partner Organizations
In our work to improve the lives of Oregon children through reading, we are joined by countless community organizations, passionately united in the common cause of educating our youth. Education is a responsibility shared by many – parents, teachers, public schools, government institutions and private organizations. SMART works with a number of organizations to improve and expand our service offerings and, ultimately, help to create better, brighter futures for children across the state.
Featured Partner: “I Have A Dream” Foundation-Oregon
With the common goal of empowering youth through providing apposite tools and resources based on individual needs, the “I Have a Dream” Foundation-Oregon has been a valued SMART partner since 2010. During the planning and implementation stages of SMART at Alder Elementary School in Portland, “I Have a Dream” Foundation-Oregon’s support and involvement was a portrait of enthusiasm and commitment. Local Director of Dream Programs, Traci Rossi, is a devoted SMART Reader and substitute Site Coordinator, is often found giving tours of the school, and actively recruits volunteers for the program. She successfully recruited all “I Have a Dream” Foundation-Oregon employees to read with the students at Alder!
