SMART Corporate Partnership
SMART’s roots in the business community run deep, and we’ve always had ample business giving opportunities.
We were founded in 1991 by a group of business leaders who were worried about the fact that Oregon’s children were reading below grade level. Our founders understood that there was a direct connection between an effective education system and a thriving economy with a strong work force.
A year later, SMART was launched in eight schools in two cities, serving 585 children.
Today, SMART is in more than 270 sites across Oregon. We are grateful for the support of many business partners who have supported SMART with their time and resources over the years. Their support has allowed us to serve more than 199,000 children and give away more than 2.5 million books. Our business partners have played a vital part in providing Oregon with a more productive and literate workforce.
