Research from hundreds of correlational studies shows that the best readers read the most and poor readers read the least, as reported by the National Reading Panel in 2000. You can see converging evidence from these studies that supports the theory that high exposure to print has a positive impact on issues that confront educators in every school, such as word recognition, fluency, vocabulary, general knowledge, and reading comprehension.
